Mine

Mine is HONT's gray flight and is currently used as a flight for new recruits. It normally doesn't participate in the Hammer Cup but is still considered an active flight since it is used in a permanent setting, outside of comps.

Flight history

Before the creation of farm flights, the gray flight was used as a welcoming flight for new recruits. Once a racer in Mine was showing progress, they were promoted to Iron Ore (which was then used as an intermediary flight between recruits and regular racers).

Then after Hammer Cup I came the idea of farm flights. Mine was the farm flight of Forge. The red flight could recruit any racer from Mine at any time as well as demote inactive racers back to Mine.

When farm flights were abandonned shortly after Hammer Cup II, Mine started being used as a flight for new recruits once again.

Name, logo and symbolism

I thought the name "Mine" was very fitting for a recruit flight. You need to work hard in the mine to find and extract the precious Iron Ores that will later be transformed into various precious hammers and tools. As beautiful as it is, gray is rarely seen as a particularly interesting color. When you ask someone what their favorite color is, you will almost never hear them say gray. The challenge was thus to create a logo that would make the gray flight look exciting. I believe it's a total success! The image perfectly conveys the "hard work" associated with the flight. The cloudy and dark atmosphere brings an eerie, almost spooky vibe giving Mine its very unique personality.
